Having Troubles with Linux Mint
I wasn’t able to post this past few days about Linux and it’s all because of troubles that I have encountered.
I recently downloaded and installed RecordMyDesktop and from the name itself, it’s an application capable of recording your desktop activities with sounds and to be outputted in .ogg format. But every time I end the software, It will give me an error the the sound module was not detected. I did it several times, look for the log file, search google for answers, test the sounds by playing mp3’s and DVD’s but to no avail.
Also, I can’t change the default ‘Daryna‘ Menu icon. All the instructions that was posted in GNOME look was for Ubuntu. I even tried to post a topic in LinuxMint forum but no answers yet. The screenlets isn’t working that well either, I have to restart screenlets everytime just to make the candy look stand out. Though it has been a very frustrating week for me, I’m not turning my back to Linux. I consider all this as a challenge.
This week, I will be purchasing a new hard drive to have a fresh install of either Gutsy Gibbon or the Alpha version of Hardy Heron. I’ll try to play around with Ubuntu this time coz most of the support I found in search engines are referring to Ubuntu distro. Although Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, there are still some differences with regards to certain processess. In the coming week, I’ll keep you updated with my experience with plain Ubuntu.
