My New Linux Desktop: Kubuntu Hardy Heron

After a few days of testing Ubuntu’s KDE, Kubuntu, I find it a lot easier to use as compare to Linux Miint and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. I also have a copy of Ubuntu 8.04 but I just tested it in the Live CD. I personally think that nothing much have changed or maybe I’m just looking at the aesthetics of the desktop.

But running Kubuntu on a live CD is different. I said to myself that “this is it”. With just 15 minutes of running it in a CD, I decided to install it and oh boy! I am loving it. It is as easy as a Point and Shoot camera. I can’t think of any commands yet that I ran from the terminal. Installing programs is simple, fast and uncomplicated. The aesthetics are cool. Navigation is a lot better compare to GNOME.

Personally, I believe that KDE won this battle for desktop environments as compare to GNOME. The KDE 4.0 is something to look forward too.

Uhmm what else? Root access is not a problem. Every folder or file has the “run as root” on the side of the “Dolphin File Manager”. Linux newbie’s wouldn’t have much issue’s about getting admin access.

There are still a lot more that I can’t put into words. What I suggest is try it for yourself. If you use GNOME before then you’ll be pleased how good a KDE desktop is. If you’re using Vista or XP, watch out! Kubuntu is coming to get you. :)
