Not Satisfied with Firefox? Try Opera for Ubuntu
Recently I posted on how you can make your Firefox’s font look better in Ubuntu or Linux Mint. Some says that it work and other’s don’t. For me, I find the fix very helpful and the author did save me from the brink of switching back to Windows XP. However for some reason there’s this itch that I can’t take. I am talking about this Google page in Firefox. Google is my preferred choice for search and everytime I visit the page I just can’t take the way the search box looks like. It’s so nasty and terrible. I even end up using Yahoo sometimes just to cope up with this shortcomings. Here’s a picture of the Google page taken from Firefox.

Now here’s a screenshot from the Opera browser.

Did you see the difference? The rectangular search box of Google in Firefox failed miserably in displaying it’s box’s definition, same goes with the button. While with Opera, it gives a superb and outstanding look similar to Firefox in Windows XP. I’m sure for most Linux wannabees, they would want to have that same experience from Windows taken to Linux. If that is the page that they will be getting, I think it will turn them off. So as an alternative to this (until Firefox came up with a much better update) Opera will be my best choice for Linux.
One more thing that I like about Opera is their Speed dialing. Oops don’t get me wrong here. Their speed dial isn’t similar with a phone. Instead of telephone number, it gives you this huge square blocks wherein you can add a website to fill those 9 square blocks. Every time you open a new tab, you will have this speed dialing page complete with the thumbnails of each website that you saved. Take a look.
